I’M ABIGAIL WILSON, AND I HAVE MADE IT MY LIFE’S PURPOSE TO BRING OTHERS JOY THROUGH MY ARTWORK

I’ve been creating art for as long as I can remember. As a kid, I wanted to be an artist, a wife and a mom. Thats it. That’s all I ever wanted. So I started with what I could do then.

I would draw anything and everything; I created little paper sculptures, played with clay and pottery and made messes wherever I went.

My nickname was literally “Pigpenn Abby!” My parents had a since of humor.

Middle school is where I recognized my passion for art. I got into the Advanced Art elective for 8th graders and I was so excited! I wanted to be the girl everyone knew as ‘the artist.’

That wish soon came true! My passion grew in high school where I learned so many different painting and drawing techniques in my art classes. The school I went to offered the most art classes in the county I lived in, and I signed up for every single one that they had.

I had a friend ask if I could paint something for them, and I said sure! They gave me actual money for it, which, as a teenager was amazing! They loved the painting and then other people started asking for paintings, and I realized I really could make a living doing this! I saved up money to get nicer materials, advertised my business to my friends and family and slowly but surely my name began to spread far and wide! I pursued this with all of my passion, and still do to this day! It is the sweetest thing to give someone a gift so precious as a painting just for them.

The passion I had took me to art school where I received my Bachelors of Fine Arts with a concentration in Painting. I found my passion for sculpture during that as well. I spent hours and hours drawing, painting, sculpting, welding, painting, and drawing some more! It was honestly the time of my life.

Now that I’ve graduated, I am able to pursue this passion FULL TIME!

A huge part of my identity plays a huge role in this as well!

I gave my life to Jesus Christ as a young girl and allowed him to work in and through my life. He has molded me into the person that I am, He has been with me in the incredible times of my life, and in the deepest and darkest moments. He made me a new creation from the one who know only sin and darkness.

God has been the person who led me to truly pursue this passion of mine. So I do it for him. He provides everything I need, so why would I worry about “making it” if he told me to do it in the first place!

I love creating work that points back to my Lord and Savior, and His Living Word. I am so inspired by his creation, whether that be nature or people. These things are the main focus of my work personal work. It pours out of me sometimes. My personal form of worship.

After an amazing honeymoon, I continued my live Paintings, (literally 2 days after I got home from across the world!) but my business seemed to be at a standstill. After six months of fully focusing on my wedding, I had neglected to pursue my live painting career. I didn’t post as much on social media, I didn’t reach out to people, and it truly affected my business.

I was so discouraged because I wasn’t getting leads and I didn’t know what to do. I decided to invest in my business, and joined an art and business course. It wasn’t specifically about live wedding painting, but I was able to apply what was taught, and I started to gain momentum. I was able to learn the market, raise my prices, and track where I get the most leads, and the months that I book out the fastest. I took the data from where I get most of my inquiries from and I invested in ads and put more effort into that area. In the first two months of 2024 alone I was able to book 16 weddings for 2024 and 2025, and have leads coming in consistently! This wasn’t a fluke or luck. It was the mindset I adopted when I invested in my business. I felt like I had learned the secret.

I made some live Painting friends through Facebook and we met up for coffee to just grow our community with people in our area. To my pleasant surprise, they had asked me to teach them, and so we met up every week so I could help them succeed in the way I have!

I wanted to find a way to get my knowledge to other live painters, and The Wedding Painters Masterclass was born! Everything that I have learned about business, art, weddings and the secrets to live painting, I want to share with you!

For a long time I thought I would just be doing art for the rest of my life. It’s my passion and I love every part about it, but the last few years I felt like there was something missing.

I began seeing this new trend of live wedding painters and I said to myself, I can do that! With all of the training and practice I’ve had, I could paint from life and finish it in a few hours, so I sat down and saw if I could truly do it! I painted a picture of my friend on her wedding day, and I started and finished in 2 hours, and it was honestly one of the best paintings I had done to date. I showed her, and my family and they all were amazed. That was confirmation.

So I began to advertise that I was offering this new form of entertainment and within a week I booked 11 weddings for that year! that’s CRAZY!

I absolutely fell in love with the atmosphere! It became the passion that I had been missing. It gave me community, surrounded me with love and allowed me to let out my extroverted side that painting in a studio just doesn’t allow. Every painting I do is better than the last!

In October of 2022 I got engaged to my best friend and love of my life, and I immediately began to plan my dream wedding! (Finally, the “wife” part of my childhood dream coming true!) Every little detail was such a joy for me to create and make happen! I had the help of my amazing family in all of it, and I ended up doing all of my signs and florals. This solidified in my heart that I would always be in the wedding industry!

So now, I can officially say,

Live Wedding Painter,

and Professional Artist

and Live wedding painter Instructor!!

God knows exactly what He’s doing! It has been a rollercoaster but I have trusted God to take me where I need to be and he has shown me the way!

The next step is kids… That will be an adventure for sure! LOL! I love this amazing, beautiful and crazy life that I live, and who I get to live it with!

So when I’m not painting at weddings, you will find me in my studio painting away or at a coffee shop teaching one-on-one!
