Sun, Moon
Genesis 1:14-19, “And God said, “Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years, and let them be lights in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so. God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. God set them in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth, to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the fourth day.”
The son of God is the light of the world. He is The Sun! It’s opposite is the moon. And though the moon will never reach the sun — in its brightness, in the distance between them, or in its significance,— The moon was made to reflect the light of the sun onto the dark earth. Sometimes the moon is at its brightest, and sometimes it begins to fade until you can’t see it in the sky, but it always comes back. The sun is always waiting to shine its light on the moon.
We were made to shine God’s light onto the world. We were created to be a reflection of God. Though we can never reach the perfection that Jesus had, and we are unworthy because of our sin, Jesus came to save us, and if we accept his gift, we become the moon that God intended us to be.
